The Humble Henhouse
Five years ago, I decided to more fully embrace my gentlewoman farmer tendencies and enter into the world of poultry keeping. After much research and thought, I designed and built my own coop to coordinate with quality and aesthetic of the other garden structures on my property. It is made of tongue-and-groove cedar, with a cedar roof and a dutch door painted with Fine Paints of Europe high gloss paint in a pale blue. It is equipped with multiple roosts, removable cleaning boards, a storage cabinet, three accessible nest boxes, double casement windows and an automated guillotine-style pop door. My story began with Mimi, Giselle and Genevieve, and continues this spring with the birth of six little chicks, English Lavender Orpingtons and Wheaten Ameraucanas, to complement my existing flock.
I recently decided to partner with GardenSheds, Inc., to make this "humble henhouse" available to the public. The first production cutting is scheduled for this spring. Please contact GardenSheds HERE for more information.
